Exhibitor Ethics

Youth Livestock Show Ethics & Animal Care Workshop

The Florida State Fair, along with some County Fairs throughout the State of Florida, believes that every youth exhibitor should receive proper training and information for raising and showing a youth animal project. With this in mind, the Youth Livestock Show Ethics and Animal Care Training Program was developed.

  • Many Fairs throughout the State are now requiring exhibitors to attend a training workshop. Check the rules, for the Fair you are attending, to see if it is required. This program has been endorsed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the University of Florida, Institute of Flood and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS).

  • The Florida State Fair believes that every youth exhibitor should receive proper training and information for raising and showing a youth animal project.

The Youth Livestock Show Ethics and Animal Care Workshop is designed to certify students to meet the mandatory certification requirements that will be in effect for the 2024 Florida State Fair. Certifications are valid for three (3) Fair seasons, not 3 calendar years.

For the 2023/2024 Fair Season, we will be offering workshops for new exhibitors and anyone who needs to be renewed. Certification Numbers starting with 22, 23, or 24 are current and valid.

  • It is important that the exhibitors understand:

    • The purpose of youth livestock projects
    • The importance of ethics in youth livestock projects
    • Proper animal handling and management
